When non-neoclassicals (non mainstream/orthodox economists) do this stuff, which they have for years, the orthodox economists either ignore you (or fire you, like in my case). But when  Paul Romer does it, his words cannot be ignored ,and certainly he is not going to be fired. The reaction to his paper about macroeconomics reaching a dead-end speaks volumes about the profession.
